About Border Aussies

One of the most frequent reasons  Border Collies and Aussies get turned over to rescue groups is that their owners didn’t anticipate how energetic these dogs are. It is highly recommended that you take into serious consideration the time and energy you have to commit to any dog you choose.  learn everything you can about Australian Shepherds and Border Collies and this mix before deciding to Adopt one of our puppies. Aussies are cute and fluffy but they are also highly intelligent, Often smarter than their owners, they are crafty and have tons of energy. They also were bred to herd and the instinct is strong. Like Aussies, Border Collies are also highly intelligent, very active and NEED a job. They also have a strong instinct to herd.  Room to roam and dedication to training is a must.  If you do not have the time, space or energy to put into your Border Aussie, it may not be the right breed for you.

Our puppies are not purebreds. They are an intentional cross hybrid of our AKC, ASCA, Australian Shepherd and Border Collie/Kelpie. We believe this mix will create the best pet Aussie-Border Collie type that will do well in your home. They are not intended for the confirmation show ring but may excel in competition companion sports and especially herding.

The sire, Jump'n Jake has a strong herding pedigree making these puppies excellent candidates for a farm in need of a good herding dog or competition herding.

We have found that many purebreds suffer from breed-specific aliments and generally can have more neuro & health challenges, particularly in stock dogs. We love the loyalty, trainability, and focus of the Border Collie, although the breed can tend to be shy and with obsessive, neurotic tendencies, particularly when kept as pets without a job to do.  Although Australian Shepherds have individual characters and some are more sedate and quiet-natured than others generally, they are not content to be couch potatoes, and can be high energy dogs who need a purpose in their lives-or a job. They also are highly trainable and are extremely loyal.

The result of the Aussie Border Collie hybrid is a happy and playful dog that is intelligent, hard-working and has a desire to please. Because Jake is a mix of Border Collie and Kelpie these puppies will have all the herding instincts that you would expect from a cross of these breeds.

Today, breeders of the Australian Shepherd Border Collie are moving towards recognition for the breed and currently; the American Canine Hybrid Club recognizes the Border Aussie, the Dog Registry of America, the International Designer Canine Registry and the Designer Dogs Kennel Club.

Please keep in mind, that because the Sire is not an AKC registered Border Collie, these puppies would not be eligible to be registered in the above mentioned registries.
